Title: Project Engineer
Duties:
Working under the close supervision of Principal Engineers at MBE, the Project Engineer will design structural systems for support of vertical and lateral forces on buildings based on the requirements of the building code; determine code-required wind and seismic design forces on buildings and design of the structural components that brace the building against those forces; determine code-required vertical forces on floor and roof structures and designs beams, girders, joists, columns, and foundations for buildings; on every project, draw structural details and work with our production team to create building plans for permit review and for construction; assemble sets of structural engineering calculations that are reviewed by building officials as part of the permitting process; during construction, respond to contractor questions about the design and assist contractors with corrections for construction errors.
Requirements:
Master of Science degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and (1) year of experience as an Engineering Intern, Design Engineer, or related occupation, working on structural engineering projects under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
Requires (1) year of experience in each of the following:
Working with each of the following: RAM Concept, Risa3D, Excel, ETABS.
Working in structural engineering of wood, mass wood, structural steel, post-tensioned concrete, reinforced concrete, structured foundations, seismic evaluation and strengthening of existing structures.
Working with non-linear dynamic analysis.
Working with seismic strengthening of existing buildings.
Working with seismic anchorage of equipment.
Requires Master’s level coursework in each of the following: Earthquake Protective Systems, Earthquake Resistance Design, Dynamic Analysis, and Experimental Systems in Structural Engineering.
