The Pavilion, a new outdoor sports facility for the Bend Parks and Recreation District, is nearing completion and will soon host ice skating, hockey, and other ice sports on a new seasonal ice rink. The outdoor rink, which will operate for five months each year, is covered by a 28,000-sf steel framed roof. During the off season, the facility will convert to outdoor sport courts and will host basketball, tennis, volleyball and even pickle ball.
The Pavilion will rent equipment, sell concessions and provide locker rooms for drop-in users and for competing teams. The facility will also have meeting rooms and viewing areas for events on the rink and sport courts.
Madden & Baughman Engineering provided structural engineering for the building with Opsis Architecture of Portland, Oregon. The General Contractor is Apollo, Inc.
